Before you enter this program you should prepare your site. Perhaps, it
requires only a few final touches which will make your registration problem-free
and profitable in the future. You already know what Google doesn't like.
Are there any other preferences? Preferred content? The answer is "generally No"
. You can submit a page that doesn't violates the Google AdSense policies
. „...generally No." – I think I will have to explain that a bit. Your
website is supposed to bring some profits, so you'd better think hard of a topic
or a subject matter that might generate a lot of traffic due to its popularity
and public interest.
Remember!
Good topic or theme
means
good website traffic
and
many clicks on the ads
which results in
high income
Your credibility plays an important role in the website traffic. This
is why people very often come back to your pages or add them to their favorites.
It's like "sale". It is much easier to sell another product to you happy regular
customer than finding a new customer. For your site to be credible you have to
write about things that you know something about. Your site should look like a
source of information, a resource, because this is what people look for on the
Internet. Reliable information.
Think how you can encourage your visitors to frequent visiting your site
(newsletter with interesting facts, downloadable files, free E-books). Remember
that you're not alone. Try to find some links to interesting pages. And yet
better, try to exchange links with interesting websites – you profit twofold: 1)
higher listings in search engines 2) more interesting content, better
credibility
Thanks to a large number of links to your page, you will gain new visitors
and your position in SERP's will also go up.
Avoid any type of aggressive adverts, pop-ups, etc. This puts people off. Try
to make your page clear and pleasant to eyes as well as user friendly. Keep in
mind that stuffing the page with a lot of images and graphics will not necessary
make it attractive.
These are just some general principles and most of them are probably obvious
to you. But think for a minute from the point of view of your page user and
evaluate the credibility of your page, its layout, attractiveness, how
interesting and friendly it is. If you're happy, the success is just a few steps
away.
It's high time to find a good spot for your Google ads. What are the sizes
and ad forms available? I write about it in chapter 5 (Context Advertising) in
much greater details.
Before you place any ad on your pages, you still have another task ahead of
you. You have to play with the code of your page. For those familiar with the
HTML , this should not constitute a major problem. This type of knowledge is
necessary here however. After all you will have to paste the ad code.
But let's go back for a minute to the definition of context advertising.
Context is a dependency between one fragment of a text/utterance and
another one (following or preceding). Your ads should fit into the context of
your page. I think you know how robots read pages, so you should also know how
you should modify the HTML code. Your goal is to modify your pages in such a way
so that you can receive ads with a desirable content. You may still have so
doubts about whether this type of activity makes any sense at all. An ad is and
ad. If it is there - then it's OK. Your visitors may click the link and make you
richer. You're right, but it's essential how much you earn!
You must know that your earnings depend not only on the number of clicks but
also on the rate that you are receiving. An "A" company can pay you more than a
"B" company. It means that your earnings may be different. It also depends on
the popularity of the keywords the ad is run on.
